Today Apple announced Mac OS X Lion and Lion Server.
Mac OS X Lion will be available in July in the App Store for $29. Mac OS X Lion Server will be available in July in the App Store for $49. This is the first time that Apple has made the Mac OS and Mac OS Server installers available for download through the App Store.
With OS X Lion, the world’s most advanced desktop operating system advances even further. With over 250 new features, including Multi-Touch gestures, Full-Screen apps, Mission Control, Mac App Store, and Launchpad, OS X Lion takes the Mac further than ever. Lion also features a redesigned Mail app, Auto Save, Versions, and AirDrop. Mac OS X Lion requires an Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor.
Apple also announced OS X Lion Server with a host of enhancements including Server App, Profile Manager, File Sharing for iPad, and Push Notifications. Lion Server also features improvements to Wiki Server, iCal Server, and Mail Server, and it comes with Xsan built-in.
